Chocolate Chip Cookies

This recipe makes approximately 4 dozen cookies.  It was inspired by Betty Crocker's Cookbook:  Bridal Edition.

3/4 Cup sugar
3/4 Cup packed brown sugar
1 Cup butter(2 sticks) softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
2 1/4 Cups plain flour(all purpose)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 Cup nuts, coarsely chopped(optional)
1 12oz bag chocolate chips(I only use 1/2 bag in mine and they have plenty)

Preheat oven to 375*F.  In your mixing bowl combine your sugars and butter until creamy.  Add vanilla and eggs until just combined.  With a wooden spoon, stir in flour, baking soda, salt, nuts(if you are using them) and chocolate chips.  Drop dough about 2 inches apart and bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges look done.  Cool, eat and enjoy!
